WHO WE ARE

Humatects GmbH (HMT) is an IT company developing software and offering services for human-machine interaction (HMI) for safety critical as well as entertainment systems. The employees at HMT are experts in human factors engineering, artificial intelligence i.e. machine learning, human modelling i.e. Bayesian Networks, industrial design and software development. The company is located in Oldenburg, Northern Germany, and was founded in 2014 by Dr. Andreas Lüdtke as a spin-off of the computer science research institute OFFIS.

WHY HUMATECTS

HMT develops technologies that are targeted to tailoring interactive systems to the needs of the individual end-user - systems like medical devises, systems for autonomous driving, training support systems, control room user interfaces, AR/VR applications for museums and tourism. Starting at OFFIS and continued at HMT, more than 15 years of scientific research on how humans interact with machines have been compiled in computational human models. Our human models are used to simulate, to understand and to predict user behavior and user needs in order to derive individualized support. In addition to the application of our own methods and technologies, we have extensive experience and knowledge in the application of common human factors methods and established standards (e.g. ISO 9241).

This unique combination of our model-based approach with usability standards and procedures allows to use formal and objective human-centered metrics to ensure a very high user satisfaction that goes beyond the mere compliance with standards. We design and implement systems that are trustworthy, easy to understand, easy to use, and to which users feel personally attached.

WHAT WE OFFER

The portfolio of HMT consists of six products and services:

  • DMSTM: a software library for efficient development of driver models. These driver models are able to predict driving decisions, actions and driving styles of human drivers. They can be used to adapt automated assistance and automated functions in vehicles to the individual driver and to the current traffic situation.

  • CocomoTM: a software application to support technical maintenance work. Using augmented reality technology, the application provides step-by step instructions for repair and maintenance tasks and allows to connect live to a remote expert with audio and video. It can be used with a multitude of end-user devices, from smart watches and phones to augmented reality-equipment, i.e., the HoloLens.

  • TrainingSuiteTM: a software application for aircraft pilot training with a focus on training transition from one aircraft type (e.g. B737) to a new aircraft type (e.g. A320). The core of the application are formal computational models of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that are automatically compared by an artificial intelligence algorithm. The comparison allows to adapt the training syllabus to what the trainee already knows (e.g. how to fly a B737) in order to focus on what s/he has to learn (e.g. how to fly a A320).

  • HMI: services for design and implementation of multi-modal user interfaces (graphical, touch, AR/VR) in control rooms and vehicle cockpits, i.e. graphical user interface for energy control rooms, graphical user interface for aircraft systems, graphical user interface for automotive systems.

  • AR/VR: services for design and implementation of augmented & virtual reality applications, ranging from the conception of AR/VR systems up to the implementation for an array of devices (e.g. smartphones, tablets and, of course, smart glasses like the Oculus Rift or the Microsoft HoloLens).

  • Mobile & Web Applications: services for design and implementation of mobile and web applications covering a wide variety of application areas - from monitoring of technical systems to entertainment applications.
